Who we are

SLVM operates the SLVM Driver app and the SLVM customer portal. This policy explains what the apps collect and why. Questions: accounts@slvm.co.uk.

Who the driver app is for

The SLVM Driver app is a work tool for drivers engaged by SLVM. An account is created by SLVM; members of the public cannot sign up.

Location

The app records the driver's location so the office and the customer can see where a vehicle is while it is being moved. Location is collected only when all of the following are true:

• the driver is signed in to the app;
• the driver has a customer vehicle collected or in transit;
• it is Monday to Friday, between 08:00 and 18:00 UK time.

On Android, collection continues in the background (screen locked or app switched away) while those conditions hold, so the trail is not broken mid-journey. While it is running, a permanent notification is shown so the driver always knows tracking is on. Location is never collected outside those hours, when no vehicle is on board, or when the driver is signed out.

Location data is used to show live vehicle position, produce a journey trail for the job, and resolve delivery disputes. It is visible to SLVM office staff and, for the vehicle in question, to the customer. It is not sold, shared for advertising, or used to profile drivers.

Photographs and signatures

The app captures vehicle photographs, damage notes and signatures as part of collection and delivery reports. These form the proof of collection and proof of delivery supplied to the customer.

Account and work data

We hold the driver's name, email address, phone number, job allocations, expenses and pay records in order to operate the service and pay drivers.

Storage and retention

Data is stored on secure servers within the UK/EU. Job records, reports and photographs are kept for seven years for accounting and liability reasons. Location trails are kept for 12 months and then deleted.

Your rights

Drivers and customers may request a copy of their data, correction of it, or deletion where we are not required to keep it. Email accounts@slvm.co.uk. A driver can switch location off in the phone's settings at any time; the rest of the app continues to work, but the office will not see the vehicle's position.
